Square Light vs. Round Light
I,ve been thinking about possibly doing a front clip swap on my 86. I have had a couple round light square bodies in the past and really like the look. Dont get me wrong, I also really like the look of the 91 clip on my truck now. What do you guys think? Also, anyone have pics saved of dropped, custom round light trucks?
Anyone have a VERY NICE rust free round light complete front clip they might want to trade. (Black preferably)

Re: Square Light vs. Round Light
Can someone educate me on the differences between the 73-74 or 75-?? front clips. Pics would help alot too.
I will try to find someone to Photoshop it for me so I can see what it'll look like with the round front clip and the Coys.

Re: Square Light vs. Round Light
I say change it over, and then send me the burb clip!
I like all of the styles of front clips. I thought about doing the same to my truck, but the more I thought about it I would rather buy an older truck than change the clips. I say keep the clip you have on this one, and then look for the next project in the 73-79 era Granted if your situation is like mine, and money isn't just falling from the heavens, then you are right back where this thread began. Which way do I go? Keep us updated. |

Re: Square Light vs. Round Light
That is awesome. Thanks man. I didnt even think about the wipers not being covered by the cowl on the older trucks. Is the 73-79 clip a bolt on procedure even with the wiper differences?

Re: Square Light vs. Round Light
My first truck of this generation was a 1976 K10 Scottsdale so I am very partial to the 73-80 clip even though I like them all. As far as I'm concerned GM didn't make any ugly trucks so you can't make a bad decision no matter what you decide to do. .....Joe

Re: Square Light vs. Round Light
I've always liked the round headlight look. I'm planning on back dating my '79 to the '73-'74 style. Since it is a pain in the butt to change the '80 and up to the older stuff I would change to a single rectangular headlight style like on the front of my M1008.

Re: Square Light vs. Round Light
I like the round lights but I also like the 89-91 clip (obviously). I think your truck looks mighty clean with the front clip you have. I think it might start to look alot like Franks if you go to the old clip. NOT THAT THAT IS A BAD THING!

Re: Square Light vs. Round Light
I would be mighty proud to have a truck that looks like Franks. I like both front ends so much it's hard to decide. I guess I'll keep the 'Burb clip and focus on fixing the suspension issues I need to address. Thanks for all the compliments fellas.

Re: Square Light vs. Round Light
I think that is a good idea. Then like I posted earlier, buy an older truck that way you have both.

You could also opt up to the square lights. I ordered my 80 stepside Scottsdale with RPO V22 (Chrome grille) which got it the square headlamps. K

Re: Square Light vs. Round Light
I didn't vote, but I prefer the round headlights - not so much because of the lights but because the 1980 and earlier gets you that big front bumper - like a semi truck.
I like the looks of that big bumper right down on the ground K

Re: Square Light vs. Round Light
Yeah this has the 77-79s listed under one group when the 77-78s head light bezel did not cover the turn signal/parking lamp. Did not know that about the 80s having both round and square headlights. This has been a debate between me and my brother for a long time.
Maybe some one can answer another 79-80 trivia question. Every 79 I have owned or seen has hood release inside the cab, but some say they have seen them w/o? Was 79 the first year for the inside hood release, and was it standard in all trucks? |
