Hunting a Blazer/Jimmy
I am trying to find a line on a relatively clean '73-91 Blazer or Jimmy that I can make into a DD. I live in the Southeast, so I would really like to find one relatively close (inside of 500 miles). I would prefer a 2WD, but I can swap it to 2WD if I must.
HELP!!! Oh, and if I am in the wrong place or posting improperly, it wasn't intentional. |

Re: Hunting a Blazer/Jimmy
Good luck on your search. If your not looking to spend over 4-5k then buy a clean 4x and swap it. I see them all the time for around 1k. I got mine for 900, plenty of pics in my build thread. I plan on putting together a decent how-to about the 4wd to 2wd swap. Dont think its going to be too hard though. Look for a 82 and under though. They still have the holes for the 2wd crossmemeber I'm told. My 87 dosent have it, so I'm trying to figure out the best way to figure out where it goes.

Hey bluex,
I read ur build thread, and several others , and I know that this will probably be the route that I will go, but if I can come across a decent 2wd... You've made some great progress considering your work schedule. Last edited by nlped; 11-13-2009 at 11:17 AM. |

Re: Hunting a Blazer/Jimmy
You can find them but you just need to hold off for that right one. I have seen 4-5 under 5k that have been nice, so just take your time and keep looking..

Ya its just got worse too. They added another 2500 units before the end of the year. I'll be working at least 50 hrs now till janurary. I would hold out too, it is taking longer than I though it would. But I knew I wouldnt have the cash to spend on a 2wd, so I knew a decent 4x one was my best bet. On a side note, I hope to have the rest of the brackets off th donor frame and the blazer in the garage on monday...

Re: Hunting a Blazer/Jimmy
Good luck in your search. I recently picked up my 77' Blazer 2wd for $ 200 but, it came sans motor , trans, and title. I have a lot of rust repair to do but, that is half the fun

Re: Hunting a Blazer/Jimmy
They seem to pop up (or stand out) more now than they used to. I was at a body shop Wednesday and saw one I didn't even know was in town - black on cragar's - looked nice.

Re: Hunting a Blazer/Jimmy
I didnt see it but I dont remember what key word I was using.....I think Chevy truck. I checked K5 last night again.
It was about an 77-80 model, brown and white and 2x4...running and driving. Good luck.

This truck had been on CL off and on since I bought mine. He started off asking $6k for it. Its the ONLY factory 2wd I have seen for sale in this area. LMK if your intrested, I've wanted to go check it out but dont want to waste his time or get his hopes up.

Re: Hunting a Blazer/Jimmy
I'll holler if I see something, but it seems like they're all 4wd here in the southeast. But you know that already. Good luck on the search.

This one still needs a home. It is a solid, rust free truck. Would make a great start. It used to be mine; the second owner almost cried when it left. |

Re: Hunting a Blazer/Jimmy
I looked at the pics, but I would have to see quite a few more before I could condone driving all the way to central Tx.
I had actually already asked about it I'm going to look at one tomorrow. If I like it, it's coming home with me. Last edited by nlped; 11-17-2009 at 07:26 PM. |

Re: Hunting a Blazer/Jimmy
I get a few up today. When I got home last night it was VERY dark. It's a diamond in the rough, but still a diamond.
Oh, and 72Freak, I owe the find to you. It is the one in the Atl. Craigslist add that you mentioned. Thanks a ton, man! Last edited by nlped; 11-19-2009 at 08:20 AM. |
