4.3 to 5.3 swap
I have a 2000 4wd with a 4.3 liter engine and would like to swap to a 5.3 liter besides the harness, computer, and accessories what else would be needed to complete this.

Re: 4.3 to 5.3 swap
Besides what you have already know, you will need (from a V8 doner) Throttle cable, cruise cable, engine mount stands,Fan stroud, radiator hoses, fuel lines, And the biggest thing to consider is the trans the converter spacing is different and V6 4l60Es only have 5 3-4 clutches VS 6 in the V8 version. your best bet is to use a 5.3 trans & it has to be a 4WD trans because of the different out-put shafts. All in all the easiest 5.3 swap.

Re: 4.3 to 5.3 swap
sorry for off topicidness, but is this a similar situation from going from a 5.3 to a 6.0? or is there more to that?

Re: 4.3 to 5.3 swap
The early 6.0 had different cranks (99 & 00) than any other LS based engine.
using a late model 6.0 all you really need is a long block The computer & intake are the same between the 6.0 and 5.3.(The 4L80E 6.0 computers are different) Dont count on your stock 4L60E to last long with a heavy foot. |

01-07 6.0s have aluminum heads, and the crank spacer for the 4l80e can be removed and mated to a 4l60e Everything off your 5.3 bolts on/hooks up to the 6.0, get the computer tuned and drive. But your 4l60e will not like it very much. Look into a few basic upgrades for the trans such as a shift kit, and corvette servo to give it a little more holding power.
