Can I temporarily use a smaller battery (in an emergency situation) that won't cause any damage to the battery or the truck? And if so how small can I go?

you mean lower the 12Volts?

if your talking about dimensional size yes. its really not going to make a difference. a lower amp battery wont hurt anything but wont last as long as a higher amp battery because it will be strained hard everytime you start the truck. to answer your question no smaller battery wont hurt either way. so long as its a 12 volt car battery. too small might not crank the engine over though.

That's what I was wondering. Yes it has a little less cranking amps. I just need to use it for a day.

it will be fine for a short period. like i said long term its gonna be hard on the battery and will kill it a lot quicker than normal. as for short term just to get something started so long as its fully charged you should be fine. it might crank too slow though. but it wont hurt to try
