od?

I purchased a truck about a month ago and it came with an overdrive unit.
But it didn't come with any information, wiring or any way of controling it.
On the side of the overdrive unit it has DNE2 stamped on it. Any ideas were i could fiind any information on it as well as the wiring for it.
US gear doesn't have anything

Re: od?

Post some pictures and that may help us identify it.

Did the previous owner give you any info about it?

DNE2 sounds like it may have been something from Doug Nash. Who knows how old that thing is.

Re: od?

Is the unit mounted behind the trans? Is there a control box/switch mounted in the cab?

Re: od?

Is there a large solenoid on the back end of it offset to one side?

There was a factory cable actuated overdrive that fit onto the Saginaw manual transmissions in the mid 60's. My 66 El Camino came from the factory with a three on the tree and the cable actuated overdrive. You could engage the overdrive in any gear, even reverse.

The solenoid got in the way of a traditional tail shaft mounted floor shifter so you were stuck with three on the tree.

Re: od?

If it is on the back of an automatic it is not the Saginaw unit.

Once we see the pics we should be able to help more.

Looks similar to the one on that page ? I'm thinking it's a Doug Nash that you have.

I agree and like I said in post #2 the DNE logo fits with Doug Nash Enterprises.

Re: od?

We have one on a 81 c30, but it is an underdrive behind a 4spd manual. I think i still have the installation info and manual somewhere. I'll have to see if i can find it.

That would be great if you can find it. The only thing I am looking for is the wiring diagram.

Thanks again!

Re: od?

Sorry 502ss, I guess the manual and installation guide is out at the folks home place and I have not been able to make it out there. I'll try to get out there as soon as I can and see if I can track it down.

Don't hold your breath though!
