First Car!

So i got my First car yet, a 1964 GMC 3000 Series. Bought it cheap and mostly Rust free. The dealer sold it cheap because it didnt charge the battery and he couldnt figure it out. Well 10 mins at home and a lil time under the hood and it was fixed, the alternator was unplugged.

So my goal is to redo this truck for a daily driver. Heres what ive got so far...

Cool, another GMC. What are your plans for it? Keeping the big block 6 in it?

Re: First Car!

Right now the plan is to get the front back on and get it on the road. But in the future its gonna get a bigger engine, not sure yet on the size, and i wanna lower if not slam it.
But for now its a truck to get me back and forth to work and haul my dirt bikes and quad

Re: First Car!

If you're going to continue to haul your bikes/quad in the truck you might want to consider adding bags at least to the rear of the truck; to help assist with the added weither. If you would decide to lower it staticly (lowering springs) you will more than likely bottom out with any load in the back.

In my opinion... run the 6! You just don't see a lot of them running around anymore. It's definitely a conversation piece.

I agree, but you never know! As for the gauge cluster, that's a GMC thing. Not really "unique".

Re: First Car!

Hey as long as i can drive it im good, and as for all the cluster stuff. Im 110% new to these trucks so if i screw something up, point it out.
Does anyone know if a stock 305 V6, 4 speed has any speed to it? The dealer who owned it before my said it maxes out a 68. I wouldnt be surprised if hes right but im just curious. Speed isnt everything, the slower you go the more time people have to look and be jealous

Re: First Car!

Yeah, the 305 wasn't built for speed it was built for torque. I believe it redlines around 3500 rpms. Another problem is the tranny. You have to find a rare adapter plate to bolt something else in. You can compensate for that some by changing the rear end gears.
