Speaker placement

I would like some help on some ideas for good locations for speakers in a 67 chevy truck. Also if anyone has cut into thier dashes for different radios i would like some ideas if possible

I would never cut my dash for a radio or speakers. My dad did that on his truck before he gave it to me... now I wish he would have never done it.

You can mount under the dash or in the glove box.

i used the stock setup just replaced with new speakers and replaced old radio with a new cd player added 2 compact 100 watt tweats under the center of the dash where the 3rd speakers was

Recently added in my Dad's truck a factory looking radio (Custom Autosound), amp, and fiberglass kick panels using 6.5" JL co-axial speakers. Sounds okay but I think it needs a sub to bring it all togther. He's still got the gas tank behind the seat so not a lot of options.

Not sure what he's going to cover it with, probably something similiar to the carpet on the bottom of the door panel.

Nice thing about the stereo is that it has a USB plug which gives you the option besides the radio and you don't have to buy an expensive CD changer.

The radio was a snap to put in also. Some probably won't like the kick panels but to each their own.

where did you get the kick panel enclosures? Did you make those?

I'd read an article a long time ago on how to make them and I had intended on building some for my truck, but thought I would use my Dad's first as a trial run. They weren't all that hard to make. First time I ever worked with fiberglass too.

I make all mine out of cardboard and duct tape. Then just fiberglass mat it and brush resign all over it. Sand and add bondo. Sand and cover with carpet/vinal ect...
Mount it and then add speakers/crossovers.

They actually make a speaker panel that fits well there.You do have to slightly bend the E-brake pedal(no interference with the pull type).Most BB vendors should have them.

Yeah, although they are painted now, Dad has his set that we didn't use. It's pretty shallow for a decent sized speaker magnet to fit before it hits the metal side.

Cut the dash install a double din radio and be done with it. LOL

I appriciate all the pics and ideas, im not looking to restore my truck to original i am using it as a learning expericance with fabricating and making it all around better. i relize cutting the dash would be bad but i want to try and keep it as low budget as possible making everything fit and function. any other radio location pics would be helpful except glovebox pics because i would like the radio to be easily accessible

My .02: If it's a truck that's already been altered I guess it's ok. But, if you have an original, intact truck why cut on it? If you want to experiment, find you an old clunker... I experimented with one back when they were plentiful but now these unaltered trucks are getting harder to find.

That being said, I did try messing with locating some speakers on the floor high above the angled foot rest some years ago. They didn't interfere with the feet. Never really finished the experimenting though.

man if you're looking for a different location for the deck. I saw an over head mounted deck made into the head liner with four openings for 4 6" highs and mids. I believe i found it in LMC. A friend of mine got it, and it actually was functional and looked really good!

Yeah I saw that.

But since my ride is going to be very custom anyway, ctrow's setup looks very trick!!

I knew my truck was going to be mostly custom so I decided to cut the dash and install a Kenwood head unit and a nifty polished billet aluminum trim bezel I bought off of a member on here.

Yeah my plans are to add an in dash GPS unit that will have a 5-6" screen. (At least thats my plans now).

But I am getting ahead of myself since thats a LONG way off for me at the moment.
