other than the 88-98 chevy bench, anyone who has put a different setup in that worked out nice and comfy?? I really like the late 90's dodge ram seats with the fat flip down console, any attempts/insight about installing those or a similar set?

ease of installation is secondary to the comfort of my throne

don't want any buckets though....

You could always try the '95-'99 Suburban second-row bench. I've got it in mine. CHEAP - I picked up a very good condition (but dusty, sat in a 'burb without a front clip for a decent time) for $150 and very comfortable. Not hard to install, either.

The center seatback has an insert that folds down as an armrest and cupholders (I say insert because the entire seatback doesn't fold down).

The p.o. put the quad-cab seats in my truck. Biggest problem is they sit too high for my liking. I'm tall with short legs so my head is about an inch from the top. Seat is an easy install, drill some new hole and make some spacers for the center supports. Another problem is figuring out a way to get the seat belt retractors to unlatch, they are computer controlled and I haven't been able to figure out how to make them release so I can use the belts. I'll be looking for a bench to put back in mine.

my seat is out of a '98 chevy. It's the 60/40 with the fold down console. I was thinking of putting the 2nd row burb seat in mine, but I liked the idea of having storage space vs. cup holders. The install was easy since the front outer bolt holes lign up and you have to drill the others...also, you have to make a spacer for the 60% front right bracket since they were designed for the new model hump...

One thing we did do, however, is "chop" the seat frames. We cut a 2" section out and welded them back together which lowered the seat down. It was a little too high to begin with, but sits really nice now. hey, even my 6'5" friend can ride in it now!

About any bench will work, I know Ford has got some nice seats. Just don't tell what you got it from!!!!!!! LOL!!!!!

glad to hear your 6'5" buddy can ride in it cuz I'm a little taller than that. you say you cut about 2" off of the frame? is it possible to cut anymore than that off?

None at all - I'm 6'4" so I stuck it as far back and low as I could, given that any cutting was done with a hacksaw, die grinder, and bench grinder, and I don't have a welder.

The seat DOES, however, flip forward! Makes it a lot easier to install, IMO, not to mention easy to use the storage space under there. Plus, if I ever need to get at the gas tank for some reason...

If I did have a welder, I'd probably have shortened the legs that come down from the seat a bit...

I put a burb second seat in as well. It does sit high if you don't change anything. I am 6'1", but have short legs (32" inseam). My head is pretty high. I don't have a problem with the adjusting (or lack thereof). It is just a little hard to see street lights if you are first in line.

One cool thing with the burb seat is I can flip up the passenger side seat bottom, then flip down the passenger seat back (the headrest comes out and slides into some holes in the seat bottom). That way I have a carpeted, flat bottomed storage spot which works great for groceries when it is cold out.

I will be working on some pictures this week.

p.s. I did switch to a 15' steering wheel to make a little more leg room for sliding into the seat.

I don't think we were able to chop more than 2" from the seat. It sat the rear brackets on the seat frame itself doing this and eleminated the spacer needed for the front. one thing I do have to warn you about on this install, on a short box, there's a crossmember on the frame that makes bolting it up a pain...other than that, the power lumbar is niiice...

Here's a pic of the 2nd seat from a 95 Burb. I'm completely happy with it and like project1970 said, you can get these seats for about $150.

These are the seats that I have in my truck. YOu can get the mounting brackets and it is a direct bolt in. Very comfortable and have lumbar support and lots of storage.

The seats that you can do all the flippin' with (heh) are the 1995-1999 Suburban second-row seats. I believe the 2000-up ones would work too, but I don't like the look as much and they'd probably cost more.

You can get leather ones if you want, too...

I had to wait till after the wife went to work to respond. Summit lists these seats for 999.00 plus 49.00 for bracket. Seats are made of leather. The console you see folded down also fold up and there is another storage compartment inside the seat. I lucked out and got mine from a guy on ebay for 500.00 never installed. I did remove the head rests so I could recline further back. I'm 6'4". Also put a s-10 steering wheel on for more leg room. Hope this helps.

I found mine in a yard. There is a guy who puts them up on eBay once in a while, but shipping was way too expensive.

It's not hard to find one in good shape, mine was just dusty.
