Need pic's of NP205 setups to help w/swap

Gathering NP205 parts to swap in a t-case in my 70 K5. Currently running a Dana 20 case. Have questions on the crossmember that the transmission adapter bolts up to . May be a stupid question but does the crossmember bolt up to the top and bottom of the frame? Bought a crossmember off e-bay, said it was for the 205, but it only bolts to the lower frame rail. Pic's underneath would be great, but seem to be lost here, could use some help before I waste any more money!

Scroll down to the bottom, post number 20. Maybe they'll be of some help. It does bolt up top and bottom and theres a bracket that bolts to the side of the 205 then to the frame.

Thank's BigJ. Thought I was on the wrong track, could use some more pic's. Looks like I'll have a extra crossmember for sale on e-bay soon. Anybody else got pic's of your NP205 crossmember setup?

Go to this link and you will see a number of pics that show the crossmember for the Rockwell T221.

I know the Dana 20 transfer case requires its crossmember to be spaced down 1" to fit a NP205, but now that I think about it, I think the Rockwell T221 transfer crossmember and the NP205 crossmember are the same.

You're welcome. I did edit the above post, I know the Dana 20 transfer case requires it to be spaced down 1" to fit a NP205, but now that I think about it, I think the Rockwell T221 transfer crossmember and the NP205 crossmember are the same.

T-221 and the NP205 crossmembers are the same,and the one you have is one that someone more than likely removed the top mounts. Mine is like that. I just switched from the 292/3spd/T-221 to the 350/350/205.
My swap was a lot tougher than i thought. My chassis must have been some sort of retard, or made on early Monday or late Friday. I did not have holes for the front crossmember motor mounts. I had to redrill. Only one set of holes for the x-mission crossmember and the T-221 side mount/brace was only bolted to the transfer case, no holes were there to mount to the chassis.
The truck was an Army green underneath, it was either a military issue or possibly a forrestry truck..either way the chassis is almost bastard like...A chevrolet thay will not accept Chevrolet parts. go figure...s

Ok, Here's the list of parts gathered for the swap so far: NP205 t-case out of a 71 suburban w/adapter, nice coupler, crossmember that mounts to top and bottom of frame, stock skidplate w/frt. crossmember, torsion mount for t-case, new poly bushing set for the adapter mount and torsion mount, proper 205 hump, 205 shifter rod w/nice knob, t-case shifer boot w/ retaining ring, whew, I think that's it. Other than a gasket/seal kit can anybody think of something I forgot? Wanting to have everything prepped and on hand when I start wrenching.

Maybe a couple of new cotter pins for that little arm that goes between the shifter and the transfer case sfift bar (or whatever the correct name is?). A couple of the washers that go before the cotterpin? Maybe that little arm I am talking about.

Got lots of cotter keys, anybody think of anything else? I guess I have to include a possible gasket/seal kit for the SM465 trans, oh, and a new clutch/pressure plate/t bearing setup for the trans while it's out. Will have to check if I have a lower bellhousing cover for the flywheel area. Been running without one for a long time. Oh ya, guess I better check out the flywheel real good too. Already got a new starter here ready to go on. Any ideas?

Found the lower bellhousing cover, cleaned, painted, and ready to go back on! Should be everything I need to do the swap. Sure could use some pic's of you guy's np205 setups!

Working on cleaning up the new 205 crossmember I bought. Sure could use some pic's of some 465/205 combo's with the stock skidplate setup. I think I have what I need to do this swap, just wondering if ya'll have any input? Gonna get with my "tranny" guy soon and setup some complete rebuilding/resealing, or whatever is needed. Parts are here, just need time and money, Ha, Ha!
