I think you will find the spring pads to line up on the 2wd trucks, but will need to weld on the shock mounts from the 70. good luck....crazyL

Measure the drum to drum distance. They're not all the same.

the rear end i have is a 14 bolt corp with 4.10s. i dont think it a full floater but i havent looked to make sure yet and it has the cone shaped drums. it does not have a posi unit. is it possible to put 9/16 lug studs in the 70 axles? if so i might just leave it where is at

if its full floater then it wil have the hubs that stick out about 2.5" that the ends of the axle shafts bolt onto(to the drums)
if its from a 73-80 then its an FF could have 9/16" studs put in if you have a shop centerdrill the 1/2 holes out to 9/16" or swap in 9/16" studs axle shafts good luck |

rusted chevy, he has a full floater axle, so studs are not in the shaft.
Pull your axleshafts, remove the hubs, and have a local machine shop drill them for an interference fit for 9/16 studs you buy at the parts store. You can hammer the old studs out, but take at least one so the shop can measure the amount of interference before drilling the new holes. Obviously they should have the new ones as well... Another option is getting the hubs off of a 71-72 truck and swapping those on to your truck.

i looked at the donor rear in the 86 and its not a floater. the axles look just like the ones on my 1/2 ton but have 8 lugs. i havent got the 70 home yet to look at it but when i do i will post it then go from there.

The 70 will be a full floater, as posted above.......unless it has been changed by a former owner. ....crazyL
