looking for a disc brake kit

I have a 69 c10 & want to add power brakes & front disc. Does anyone make a kit for under $1000.00 to accomplish this. The cheapest I've found is around $1100.00. I don't want to skimp on things like brakes but the cheaper I can accomplish this the better! Thanks.

You could find a 71-87 complete with the heavy duty front discs for less than $500 and buy new tie rod ends, idler arm, pitman arm, upper and lower ball joints, hoses and master cyl and still not be out $1100. The crossmember is practically the same and all the suspension components will interchange.

Part the rest of the truck to offset the cost.

Or check with some of the board vendors.You should be able to get a base kit for less than a grand.IIRC the spindles are about $250,the rotors,calipers and such another $259 and the booster and MC about nother $200.It's been a few years since I did mine but it shouldn't be much higher than that.That is unless you're looking for a complete kit with ball joints and all.

Most definitely buy a parts truck and go from there. You can use the current a-arms and cross member on your truck but will have to order ball joints from a whatever year the spindles came off of. I think if you already have power steering the tie rods are the same as well on your 69. Check out rockauto for all the new parts(ball joints, tie rods, etc) I bought everything excepts rotors to completely rebuild my front end for less than $400 shipped to my door and they were all moog parts to boot.

Will not work with some stock drum brake rims. those aftermarket kits are really sharp....but i like to use newer generation factory parts to make repairs easier....you can get new pads, rotors, etc at the local store. the factory tech is especially nice with rear disc swaps because the parking brake is a seperate drum unit under the rotor and doesn't have a troublesome and inconvenient mechanism built into the caliper. 2000+ GM trucks have rear disc and there are 6 lug and 8 lug versions so 4x4's, some 2wd's and all 3/4 and 1ton trucks are covered. i want to go this route on the rear of my 72 burb some day, although the stock brakes are really nice with massive rear drums and discs on the front.
