Black ceramic Hooker headers

I was wondering if anyone here is using the new black ceramic darksider headers that Hooker are producing. I'm using a 72 C10 2wd chassie for my build with a 350sb. What I need to know is how much clearance there is from the header tube to the front cross member as I have moved my motor forward 1 inch for firewall clearance of my F100 panel body. The Flowtech headers I have are hitting the crossmember and not allowing me to bolt them on. I'm trying to prevent surgery to the cross member if possible. Thanks to all how reply.....John

Just got a set of headers from Summit.

Installing tonight. Will report back.

Installed the driver side, only to determine that they touch the motor mounts. Also be sure that you dont choose long tube headers if you intend to lower the truck. I found that the collector hung below the frame rails.....

Ordering a set of Headmen's from ECE. The shorties made for lowered trucks.

I have the Hookers and they fit great. I didn't get the ceramic ones due to my budget at the time, but if I had to do it all over again I would have bought the ceramic coated headers.

They're when I was mocking up the exhaust - I ended up getting it welded so it's a bit different, but you can see that there isn't very much clearance. The headers are still the same. I'll be out in the garage this weekend so I'll measure it. It's pretty tight, but the clearance is there.

Edit: My truck is a C20, so I don't know if that will matter. I've always heard the Flowtechs don't fit, the Hookers do.

Be wary of black headers. They tend to fry plug wires and boots. The radiant heat can get ridiculous.

Are you considering heat shields around the boots?

But they're ceramic, not painted? Should still be good.

Huh?I`ve been running black ceramic headers since`04 with no ried boots.The whole point of ceramic is heat retension.Color doesn`t matter.Color matters with radiant heat,which is from an outside source,like the sun.Header heat comes from within and is held in better by ceramic coating.

Is this an F100 these are going on?I`m confused.

Sorry for the confusion,lol. I've built my Ford panel on a 72 C10 frame for a nicer ride.

The black ceramic headers are rated better for heat compared to the polished ones, 1700* compared to 1300* according to Hooker.

That`s what I figured.You must be setting on a 67/72 frame.Just wanted to clarify.

Yeah,the color of the spark plug boots is what will affect radiant heat.silver boots would reflect more heat and black ones would absorb more heat.I think being within an inch of any color headers is going to get radiant heat.
