6 lug to 5

I just bought a 69 short bed step side the cab is in pretty bad shape
I am wanting to put the cab off my 72 long bed on it and switch the 6 lug out with the 5 lug and disk breaks since I all ready have some good wheels for the 5 lug
My buddie was telling me that the whole front suspension will unbolt and come out the bottom or is it easier to just switch spindles?
also will the 5 lug axles go into the 6 lug housing or do I have to switch the whole rear end
My plan is to pull the cab off my 72 long bed and use the 69 front clip and my short bed fleet side bed and go to 5 lug
Thanks for the input

Re: 6 lug to 5

It is true, you can just unbolt the whole front suspension and swap over the entire 5 lug front suspension. If you don't wanna swap the whole front, then you will need to swap the spindles, ball joints, brake lines and maybe control arms.....but not completely sure about the control arms needing to be swapped. Someone else can chime in on that. In my opinion...I would swap the entire front suspension over.

The 5 lug axles will not go into the 6 lug housing properly. It would be better to swap the entire rear end.

Just my $0.02
