My new 72
My first 72. Paid $550 for it. pulled it home and started taking photos to see what all needs fixing. I know i need a motor/trans and drive shaft. Looking for some help on identifying what did and didnt come original on this truck. I do believe i want to put a fleet side on this but have not made a decision. The hood and grille appear to be 67 or 68 but the vin says 72. it has front power disc brakes, power steering, internal a/c features. someone did some customizing on the bed and gas hole area. I think it was a good buy with minimal rust.

Awesome! Looks like you got some frenched tail lights and a shaved filler as well.
I love stepsides and the 67 grille. Personnally, I'd keep it the way it is, just resto-mod it. But those wheels.....foul, bro. |

Re: My new 72
looks like a great deal to me.... id flat black the whole trucks and call it good, but if you want a 72 then you need fenders, hood, grill, etc

Re: My new 72
Their ok, but not for this truck. they remind me of when i was in highschool in the 90s. i plan to go with some rallys when i get to that point. debating on doing frame up on it at original height and trying to stay as close to an original fleetside as possible. gonna be slow but will keep pics updated.

Re: My new 72
I have been looking for exactly what you just bought!! I would put it together like it is and do a 350 automatic and drive it!!! Spray on some black flat or semi gloss paint and find some different wheels and you are done. You stole that truck!!!!

Re: My new 72
The wheels are not so bad, but the tires are. But who cares for $550? Nice buy, but you have some work ahead of you.

Re: My new 72
Very nice find. You stole that one. It looks like you have a solid truck, especially for that neck of the woods.
If you wanna put a 72 front end on it, you will need a 72 hood, fenders and grill.....and a 69-72 radiator core support, if the one on there isn't a 72. The 67/68 is a little different than the 69-72 ones. You can modify them to fit with either front end. The only differences I am aware of is the mounting holes to the frame and the headlight positioning. Good luck on the build and keep us updated. The more pics the better.

Re: My new 72
Little rust on some of that stuff. the fenders looked to be brand new cept for the bottoms. im guessing it did that because they never primed or painted them. i like the flowmaster exhaust. was also wondering if anyone could tell me anything about the rear end.
that last photo should read 78 in that corner. |
