Re: What did you get done 12/14/2009

I installed my new seat belt from KrazyRay. I got the male side installed, but I need some help on the socket size needed for the bolt that holds the female side to the floor. It's a metric that's abit larger than a 13/16". Any of you guys got an idea?

Re: What did you get done 12/14/2009

Just relaxing this weekend. The long days doing Santa's work this week have left me too exhausted to play in the garage. 9 more working days and my work life will return to normal.

BTW Bob, rained most of the weekend here too. Bummer.

IIRC its a 22mm.

Went to a local pick n pull. Got a nice set of '86 black door panels and got one installed on the pass side. Half way done on the dr side. Also got a nice chevy grill, and a almost mint set of '86 black seat belts. A little cleaning and they will both be ready for ebay...

Helped a friend with valve seals on his camaro, we got two cylinders done in 4 hrs. Think it would have been faster to go ahead and pull the motor....

Re: What did you get done 12/14/2009

when I got off work Friday at 6 I worked til 10 on my truck getting the back up light to work first installed a switch and it was on all the time then I took if and noticed there was clip holding the ear on that work with the shifter then I went to put it on, the clips that hold it on popped off so I worked a hour on them then finally got back in with the switch then I lost the connector years ago so using spade connectors first try I had back up light in park and neutral then moving them around finally had back up lights then the factory connector broke I touched the wire, the exposed wire sparked on the column right in front of my face scared me to death. I also found out the wire was to short so I had to re route it. Then the horn button came unplugged it was also short, then I called it a day, Saturday worked from 8 to 7 on help putting a cummins back in a 05 3500. then came home and checked under the dash for any more loose connection and cleaned up the wires under the dash next I need to reroute the interior lighting wires "what was I thinking when I did it"

Re: What did you get done 12/14/2009

hacked a nice JVC stereo out of a junker honda with a hammer and got the gfs 80s vintage ski doo running and took it across the field, only for it to bog out and stall at the bottom of a hill, wouldn't fire up so drug it back to the shop with her truck, then just got home from earning my snow legs driving my POS in a M-Fer of a storm...fun day

Re: What did you get done 12/14/2009

Check for a plug in the pilot jet. Went through that problem a few months ago on a Yamaha TTR125, even after cleaning the carb. The passageway in those things are tiny and it doesn't take much to plug it up.

As for the truck, Built a dolly to hold the bed and took the front and rear glass out. Also removed the AC control and put some blue led's in to match the Dakota Digital cluster.

Finished grinding down the welds from the PO's C-notch and plasma'ed out a couple of frame plates for the new 4 link brackets.

Later on tonight I'll put together a thread in the project section on the overall project and update the pics in the suspension section.

I got my truck to the house. I need to figure out the wiring under the hood so I can get it started. I have a few other small projects that I will start on and get those done and update regularly. I also got a 350 roller block for a future project.

To give credit where credit is due Tx Firefighter was the first that I am aware of to make a "what did you get done" type of post. This was before we had project forums, and he used them to give weekly updates on his projects.

I liked the idea and brought it to the 73-87 forum, and it's been a tradition every since. Bob has been gracious enough to continue the tradition and it's truly appreciated.

All my truck stuff has centered around the 09 Sierra I just bought. I have been waiting for my Snulid to arrive and it came in on Saturday. I had that installed along with a bed mat. I dropped by the dealership and got my plates installed as well.

Today I washed it and decided to pull some of the emblems off. I took 6 off, and plan to take at least two more....

Re: What did you get done 12/14/2009

I have been fixing wiring all week. My wife was out of town early in the week, so I got the chance to work later than usual. Whoever put the engine in my truck was nice enough to completely butcher a Painless wiring harness. I have pulled out probably 40 butt connectors, and soldered and shrink wrapped the wires. I also added the new (to me) seat belts I bought from member BruthaMan (Thanks, Wade!) and did some cleaning of my garage. It's nice to have a truck related update for a change.

I finally got around to getting my new engine painted. Here is a link to my build thread. Pics of the engine are at the bottom.

Other than that I put up the Christmas lights, and did a little Christmas shopping.
