winter fun
Woke up this morning to find the temp at a lustry -45. Everything plugged in cept for my ol' 72. Jumped into the work truck (07 chev) the battery tried its best but a no go. Next the wife's youkon(05), same deal, poor batteries in this weather. So i thought great, i gotta call a cab to go to work, but then i thought maybe i should try the 72 that has been parked for 3 months and i havent looked at it since then. Thinking about a frozen block, connecting rods exploding out the side of it and oil as thick as concrete, i hit the key and VROOM! To my surprise it fired up and didnt sound like a 100 cats in a blender, so i used the ol girl to jump the other 2.
My wife asked my why we bother with new vehicles if they leave us in predicaments like this and i agreed. So now im off to find a 55 nomad and some battery warmers until i get one |

Re: winter fun
That's cold! I live near Buffalo and other than in wind chill, I've never experienced it that cold - minus 25 or 30 F. You hate to run anything mechanical when it's that cold and diesels don't get shut off.

Re: winter fun
I laugh when I hear about that a buddy has a honda that gets started when the temp drops below 20 and runs till may or so..he says for the price of the gallon ot 2 of gas it burns its worth it to get into a warm car all the time with no frozen windows or snow on it....

Re: winter fun
The old metal gets a bit cantanquerous in that kinda cold.Leaving something run starts making sense at that point.That`55Nomad will run good in the snow.We had a 4dr wagon for a few years or so for the family wagon.

There are vehicles everywhere you go today with their hoods up, but on the bright side it has warmed up to -38... getting back into t-shirt weather |
