I went and picked up a 1970 Blazer I bought today. Its been parked for 5 plus years so it needs a lot of work. I ended up giving the guy $1000 for it. Was a little more than I wanted to give him but blazers dont come up for sale around here to often. Here are some pics I took before I unloaded it.

Sorry but bad news thats not a blazer but a jimmy is just as nice

That is a good price if you live in Ohio most of the ones around here you can see right throw the quarter panels.

How can you tell? It looks like it could be a Blazer with a GMC front clip to me.

I think the hood is off a 68 gmc.

It is a blazer with a multi-year GMC front clip. Has 69-72 fenders, 67-68 hood and im unsure on the radiator support. It will end up with my 70 GMC front clip on it probably, but I have a straight 72 one also.

If the rust isnt to bad I will assemble it with all my new parts and drive it until I have a place to do rust repair. It will end up with a 350/350/205, 14ff rear with lok-rite locker, 8 lug dana 44 front, 10'' suspension lift with 36''s.

Nice score, you can make it anything want, it's yours! Sounds like some good plans on the build. Don't forget to include lots of pics on your build thread, we love pics.

If and when you get a minute, could you post up a pic of the hood and the intersection of the front of the front fender. I was always curious as to the fit of a '67-'68 hood on '69-'72 fenders

6"s is all you need to run 36"s on these trucks.

Some trimming required but that's normal too.

I have a 72 chevy truck now with the lift I plan on putting under the blazer. Im guessing on the 10'' because it has 73 and newer 8'' lift springs with a 7'' shackle in front and a shackle flip, 4'' blocks and unknown springs in the rear. I estimated 10'' compared to my 4'' lifted truck. It has bald 37''s on it now and its barely legal under the california lift law. The 36''s really werent that much smaller.

vtblazer, I know what you mean about lift, tire clearance and trimming. You are correct. Im just getting by with the tires and wheels and lift that I have. Im kinda stuck with what I got until Im ready to spend the money on all new suspension. Here is a few pics of my 72 currently with the bald 37''s.

Sweet score, I am running the 73-87 8" lift springs up front with a 1" zerorate. You may be better off buying the correct springs for your truck. You will without a doubt need a CV rear driveline. I have a high angle driveline in mine and it cost $550 for it and the custom flange for the 205. So that will be another expense you should factor in. Gotta love the short wheelbase

Thanks for the heads up! Never thought about the shorter wheelbase. The truck is fine with the stock driveline lengthened but a blazer is even shorter.

I know a guy that owns a driveline shop so hopefully he will give me a good deal when I need drivelines.

nice blazer.

i bought one several months back as a project for me and my girlfreind and its becoming quite the adventure and blast.

ended up paying 700 for mine but its no where as nice as yours looked.

i ended up going with a 6" lift w/ 38s and some trimming

the blazer sounds like itll be one capable rig

I went and ripped the carpet out of the blazer and cleaned the floors up to check the body condition. Here are some pics that I took.
