69 chevy questions
i have a 69 chevy that had a inline 6 and a 3 speed on the tree well im changin it to a 350 with a 350 auto trany my question is do i have to remove the tranny brace for the three spped or will everyhthing clear with it left there ?

I know I will corrected if I am wrong, but I believe that the brace needs to come out. The auto uses a different bell housing, and you will need to add a rear transmission cross member mount.

I had to remove mine and replace with an automatic crossmember bracket from a donor truck. The best thing to do is to try to locate a donor truck otherwise you will have to piece it together.
If you find a donor truck, don't forget you will need the shift linkage and if it still has the motor mount brackets get those also along with anything that is related, like radiator, steering column, etc. |

yea i have a doner i got a 72 suburban for the rear bracket and the collum pluss others like power steering and and power breaks among other lil goodies

I left the bell housing crossmember in my '70 with no problems. I put a TPI/700r4 combo in it. I put in all new rubber mounts so maybe that made a difference.. LockDoc
