BBC vs. SBC front springs
curious if anyone knows the height different in the two springs due to different spring tensions in the two. I left the bbc springs in the front when we installed the front end from the donor truck. I need to bring it down some more, but curious what the standard sbc springs would do drop wise, so i could go from there. I am thinking i need to get it down another two inches. I currently have ece 2 1/2 drop spindles and the stock bbc springs.... I am thinking the truck would drop about an inch if i switched to the standard sbc springs. I will look into a 1 - 2 inch drop spring. just wanted too see if i was slightly on track.
Thanks

Re: BBC vs. SBC front springs
I don't have a technically definitive answer.... but I would guess the sbc springs when compared to bbc springs (holding up an equal amount of weight > than a sbc) would be shorter in overall height. Your ~1" estimate sounds about right to me.

Re: BBC vs. SBC front springs
What are you running? A bbc or a sbc? The springs sitting side by side out of the truck are the same height. The Difference is the spring rate. I went the the opposite way of what you are doing. I have a SBC and installed BBC springs. It gave me about 2 inches of lift. If you are running a BBC and want to install SBC springs. it may give you more than the 2 inches drop because of the weight difference between the two motors.

Re: BBC vs. SBC front springs
1-2 is about right. they will defently ride different thought.
bbc with sbc springs tends to be bouncy and soft. the ride realy firmed up when i put the sbc in it. |
