custom dash pad help?

I recently put in a 7inch touch screen player that replaced the old FM radio, but I had to take off the dash pad. Well the dash pad does not fit with this new player in. Has anyone does this before and what advice do you have? I am sure I can cut the dash pad but just seeing if anybody else has any ideas. Thanks

Re: custom dash pad help?

you could make one out of fiberglass resin, cloth, and some bondo. Wouldn't be that hard really. Trevor

Re: custom dash pad help?

You could cut the pad where the screen hits and reupholster it after. I put new vinyl on the cracked pad in my 69 C 10 and it looks like new, You could take the pad to an upholstery shop and have them do it for you.

my .02

Don't cut the pad if it's in good shape and original. Might be worth something to someone else or you could store it for future use. You could buy a vinyl cover as mentioned above and work with it.

Tech1, do you have a closer pic of your shaved dash? My truck didn't come with a dash pad at all & I like your idea of just shaving it.
