Question Regarding Motor Stands and BBC Swap.

Few questions regarding the tubular motor stands from Scottshotrods and the general BBC swap.

1. Are the tubular mounts from Scotts easy to install?
2. Does anyone have pictures of them installed?
3. What all is required if going from an inline six to a 454 BBC from a mid 80's motor home? (I know accessories and brackets, headers, mounts/stands, bigger radiator)
4. Is a 454 out of a motor home a good starting point for an upgradeable BBC?
5. It runs and drives fine, so would the 1,300 he is asking be a fair price for a 454/TH400 combo? Or 1,000 for just the 454.
6. Will my 2 Spd. PowerGlide bolt up to the 454 without problems?
7. What problems can I expect to run into?

As of this moment I'm driving a 1967 C10, 2WD, I-6, 2 Spd. PG, SWB, manual everything.

Dont know about the motor stands but $1000 for a running 454 is a good price. Dont know if the powerglide will handle the 454. Should bolt straight on. Maybe $1300 with tranny is a better deal just in case you need another tranny after the pg explodes.

That may be a tall deck 454. There are a lot of people who do not think that is a good performance platform. Ultimately what is your final vision for this project?

There is NO such thing as a 454 tall deck block from the factory in an OEM chassis.
366 and 427 ci. were the Medium Duty truck motors. A 427 and 454 would share the same 4.250 bore. But it was never built into a 454 ci. configuration from the factory.

I'm just looking for an easy 350 HP/TQ at the moment with a lot of room for improvement down the road if I feel the need to.

You can't go wrong with the 454/400 combo.

I'd buy the T 400 trans with it.

But, that's just me. Powerglide is a thing of the past for the street.

P.S. you could spend enough on the PG to live with 1000hp..............

The fire wall would have to be modified to get the bbc to fit, but its do able.

I have a 454/TH400 in my White '67 with no modifications. It is a great combo as far as I'm concerned.

I've never seen one but according to a lot of sources there were 454 tall deck motors built by GM in the 90 and used in RVs and heavy trucks. He said this motor was in an RV. I know he said mid 80s but it might be worth a little more research to be sure what it is. It's pretty easy to measure the deck height, check casting numbers, and look for mechanical fuel pump boss. If I was buying a used motor for a project I would want to be sure what I was getting no matter what the seller was telling me.
