dang wheel caps
When I bought this truck a wheel cap was missing. Stupid thread on plastic.
Got a new one warrantied now driving home the other night I hear this tink tink tink and sure enough it tossed a cap. I found it. But I am sick of the look anyway, can't afford wheels right now. Anybody change caps on these wheels ?

Re: dang wheel caps
I have not ever had one come loose on any of my trucks with those style caps. No I have not changed, unless you count going form the 88-98style (with separate plastic lugs) to the new ones. I did change my wheels and keep the caps.

Re: dang wheel caps
Never seen or heard of one of those caps coming off.
I wonder what's going on? |

Re: dang wheel caps
We'll I did have the tires rotated a couple of oil changes ago. And I saw that a couple were loose so I tightened just those loose ones. The other ones felt fine.
Maybe its me? How tight do the go before the threads crack ? I am pretty sure that the dealer PDI guy overtightened them. Maybe messing up the threads. ?

Re: dang wheel caps
Usually they can't be overtightened. They slip. (kinda like your gas cap does)
I would go around and check them all for yourself. |
