Should I?
So I find myself in a bit of a conundrum....
I have a 79 chevy k5 blazer, 4wd stock height on 33s. The body is a little rough but I have all the sheet metal I need to fix that problem. My wife has a hard time getting in and out of it as it is being she is only 5'3". If I leave it 4wd drive I want to do a 4" lift with some 35s, but that will make it that much harder for her to get in and out. So my conundrum is do I lift it or do a 2wd conversion and lower it? Either way there will be compromises and sacrifices to make, 4wd lift = harder for the wife to get in/out of but i'll gain ground clearance for our random winter weather like we got lastnight here in southeast KS. 2wd and dropped = easier for her to get in/out of but we sacrifice that winter driveability. Also I can pick up a 74 blazer parts truck for a full convertible top conversion for $125. I'd like to know your opinions on this.....

You dont mention it being a vehicle you NEED to have running so I would do a 2wd swap. 4wd K5's are very easy to come by so if you change your mind you wouldnt have any problem trading or selling it to buy a 4wd. Thats my opinion, at least after about 8 hours of holiday drinking

I have a 76 Blazer chassis that I could do the 2wd conversion on and then swap the body over and keep any down time to a minimum, that is if the 76 chassis will interchange with the 79 I think it's the same.

OK, yeah, full vert and 2wd... it just makes sense.
It's not a real clean original truck, so no worries there. The front clip needs replaced, so while it's off, you might as well go 2wd and fix the rust around the windsheild frame. Rather than fixing the rust, it would just make sense to replace the windsheild frame with that of a full vert. The pieces of the puzzle all fit together Also, the '76 frame would be different, due to the lack of a rear foot well. |

Well I hit a pretty good delay yesterday or maybe it's a good motivator.
My transmission went out on me, I had been dealing with a bad battery for a little while and I got a new one saturday and then the trans goes out. Luckily my dad has another 4wd th350 that he just picked up a couple weeks ago, so at least I don't have to try and find one.

do the 2wd frame and keep the 4x4 frame and swap them out each year so you have a 4x4 one year and low rider the next year...LOL
