Front end bounce
My '84 swb is bouncing all over the road. I've put new shocks and springs on, and they did help some but it still bounces and floats around. What can I do, besides airbags and tubular control arms? Thanks.

"Bouncing" is shocks.....or more accurately Lack of shocks.
Air bags and tubular control arms won't help you with a bounce at all. With-out shocks, air bags bounce as badly as springs....or worse. Is there something "out of the norm" going on here? Like a big block? Lowering springs? What kind of shocks?

I meant that I can't afford bags and control arms. It's got a small block, stock replacement moog springs, and monroe shocks. I took some weight out of the front, like the air conditioner, jack, extra wiring, etc. ,so it's not too heavy. The truck weighs just over 3600lbs.

regardless of what it weighs, if it is bouncing then you got shock problems.

Umm bet it happens at 35 and 55 mph...try rotating the tires I bet a nickle you have abroken cord or out of ballance tire.....

It's got the factory sway bar on it. It happens whenever I hit a dip in the road or cross a rough bridge. Above 60mph is when it usually happens, depending on how big the bump is. Do ya'll think it would help if I replaced all of the bushings?

"Floaty" is soft, plain and simple, which is why I asked about the springs. If the springs are too soft, the shocks have to work harder to "keep-up". Are you sure that you have the correct springs?
The only other thing that can affect this is the tire sidewall. A tall tire on a smaller diameter wheel, especially if they are under-inflated, can really feel spongy/soft.

I'm positive they're the right springs. Just to clarify it a little more, by floating around, I mean it's kind of a side to side movement, while bouncing up and down. I was thinking about trying a stiffer spring like a 1-ton spring, if it would fit, but I'm not sure how that would work out. Is there a spring/shock combo ya'll recommend? I really appreciate the input guys! Thanks!

You have to use a real large HD shock on these trucks. They are expensive but the standard line won't work. Are the bushings in the sway bar good?
