What Should I Keep??

I had a 72 Suburban frame given to me, I plan to take the front suspension, master cylinder/booster, and brake lines off to install on my 66 short step. What else should I keep, the third member is there as well as the fuel tank. Mine is a 292 with grandma and it really does need another gear. The frame has no engine or transmission but was an automatic. Don't know about the steering column at this time but don't think it was tilt as well if it had power steering or not.
Thanks in advance, Taclem

Re: What Should I Keep??

If there's a tailshaft transmission crossmember I'd grab that, and any small clips and brackets that might prove useful.

Yeah take off any screws, bolts and clips you can get, there has been many times i go to our local pull-a-part just to get some screws that i need and no parts or hardware store has.

If the motor mount "pedistals" are still there grab them in case you want to drop a 350 or any other even mount motor. anything else that unbolts you can scrap what you don't need later

Re: What Should I Keep??

I would suggest installing the rear differential from the Suburban in your truck. That way you'll have the same bolt pattern wheels front and back. I would have to agree with keeping all the nuts, bolts, screws and clips you can get a hold of. Before you get rid of what's left, post an add in the '67-'72 classifieds on here. You'd be surprised what you might be able to sell off of it.

Re: What Should I Keep??

Definitely keep the rear axle out of the 72 for the matching lug pattern, it might even have a more free way friendly gear ratio.
