Ok...dumb question
One of my coworkers has a 2004 Tahoe with a 5.3 Vortec and is wanting to change the spark plugs. He messed with it the other day and couldn't get the boots off. I went out and looked at it a few minutes ago and the boots have a metal collar around them....is there something special needed to remove the boot from the plug? He and I both tried to pull them off like an older 350 but they did not budge. I have never worked on anything this new...lol. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Re: Ok...dumb question
The ones on mine were a little hard to pull off, but not too difficult. I just twisted the metal protectors to free them up, and then twisted the boot to break the seal on them, and they just popped right off like normal.

Re: Ok...dumb question
A little more difficult than others. Just need to grab, twist and pull at the same time. Takes a little effort

Re: Ok...dumb question
The metal collars come off easily with a pair of needlenose pliers....gently pull them with a slight twist....the boots are easy after you twist 'em.

Re: Ok...dumb question
if you unhook the coil side it makes it a little easier to twist it and some fineness.
