squek??
OK, if i am driving slowly and i try to turn, the truck squeks, is this just the power streering pump not strong enough to turn the tires(they have about a 9-10" wide tread), or is this another problem? Thankx for any help.

When i first got mine I was having the same problem with mine until I figured out one of the front shock mounting bolts was way loose where it attached to the frame. Tightened it up and the squeek went away.

There are plenty of things it could be, and a pump would be on the bottom of the list IMO.
I belt may slip since you are putting more load on the pump and creating more drag. A shock bushing may be loose. An A-arm may be needing lubed. The anti roll bar (if equipped) may have worn bushings. A cab mount culd be going bad. Many other things. If you sit at a complete stop and crank the wheel all the way to the stop, you'll get an ear piercing noise, this is what a steering pump will sound like 9 times out of 10 when going bad. |
