tip for disc brake install
i changed my 70 from drums to disc, the parts truck i bought is a 69 or 70 1 ton dump with power drums..i was only going to use the booster cause everyone always says that you have to use a disc master cylinder and proportioning valve....my buddy said he changed to disc in one of his trucks and left the booster, master cylinder and valve from drums and it worked fine so i figured i would give it a shot..well it works just fine...just thought i;d let everyone know...any one ever try this and it didnt work?

My kid brother was looking to do the same to his 70. We kicked around the same idea. Glad to see it works I will pass on the info to him.

Interesting, I tried using the disc booster on a drum truck with no luck.
Maybe it was me. Hmmmm... ------------------ '69 G.M.C. 350/350. the drum master has a residual valve to keep something like 8-10 psi line pressure on the wheel cyls,& the springs keep the shoes from contacting the drums. on the disc brakes,the ony thing that pushes the pads away from the rotors(when not using the brakes} is friction from the rotor turning. you dont want any pressure on the calipers while cruising,or you will burn the pads. I have always tryed to keep matching components together in a system.....My brakes are from a 75c 10(all pcs,from the master,prop valve,lines,hosesto the bottom)........69 longhorn.
