Fuel Tank

Those of you that have used a Surburban fuel tank on the short bed tank relocation. What size was it? Year? And did ya have to notch the bed support?

Re: Fuel Tank

I found this info here...

Dynomutt, here is the info. About 5-6 inches. Not lower than the diff. I bought mine used for $80 with the Mallory fuel pump and 18ft of S/S braided hose, what a deal! You can pick one up from Summit Racing. It's a 16 gallon, for about $153.00. Here is the part number SUM-290108.

Mine sets alittle higher then in the one in the other picture.....

I notched the last cross member under the bed to get the filler cap closer to the floor....

Here is my fuel door.....

I hope it helps....

It is a tank from summit racing 16 gallon. I am using a 45 degree filler neck, it is going to be close to the side so it won't get in the way, too bad. As you can see in the second pic, the placement of the filler neck can be where you want it just by cutting the pipe length. Just bend it at a 90 or use rubber to go through the bed floor.

I will be using a 90 degree hose to a fuel filler neck, probably the 8 inch JAZ Products neck. I like the look of them.

It is actually right on the bottom of the bed floor right where the hose is and I wrapped some camper seal tape around it to keep it from rattling. I will make a bracket to hold it up, but it has to be removeable incase the bed needs to come off at a later time for some reason.

The tank does have a fuel return fitting and sending unit in tank. But doesnt have a internal fuel pump. I think that it would work for fuel injection, but you would have to run a external fuel pump.

Re: Fuel Tank

Alright guys, here is the filler neck. I will have a peice of 2 inch pipe about 3.5 to 4 inches long welded to the bottom ( and cut as needed) then install a 90 degree hose to it that will attach to the pipe under the bed. That's it! I will post pics on here after the final install is done and with the bed back on.
