1969 C/10 Ash Tray Light
Hello, I have searched our forum over and can't find anything about installing an ash tray light in a 67-72 truck. I am adding little things to my interior on my 69' C/10 SWB such as under dash lights, door jamb switches, glove box light, aftermarket dash gauges with light blue lights to match my interior. I thought it would be nice to add an ash tray light that comes on when you pull the ash tray out. Anyone have any idea's? Thanks to all our member's for making this forum the best on the World Wide Web.

I don't remember ever seeing a ash tray light from the factory. You might have to get a light with some type of switch out of another vehicle. All the ash tray lights I ever seen just came on when ever the lights were on. John

Yep, I'm gonna try to go to pull a part sat. and see what I can find. Now that you mention it, the light does come on with the headlight switch. Thanks for the advice.

I'm sure they will. I think it would be a pretty nice addition to our trucks.

Retro should be easy.
My 64 de ville has lights in the ash trays. I think they're one wire lights. When the weather clears I'll go take a look. Mick |

If I wanted an ash tray light, and didn't know where to find one, I'd look in all the Cadillacs in the yard. New and old. To wire it up, just attach it to the gray wires that run to your heater control light.

Re: 1969 C/10 Ash Tray Light
I installed one of those LED license plate bolts you see in the ricer section at auto zone over my ash tray years ago. Had to cut a small notch in the back of the actual ash tray so it would clear for removing it to empty, but it works great.

Re: 1969 C/10 Ash Tray Light
I went over to my local parts store today to pick up a transmission pan gasket and found a small light socket and bulb that fits in the hole on my heater control so it's gonna be nice to have that lit up at night. I also found the ash tray light socket and bulb. It says it's for a Chrysler but I know it's gonna work for my ashtray. I will try to post a picture when I get it installed.

Re: 1969 C/10 Ash Tray Light
I could be wrong but I think that just lights up the lighter and not the ash tray...
