Thomson's water seal on bed wood

Has anyone tried Thomson's water seal on their bed wood and if so what were the results? Did you topcoat with anything over the Thomson's? I'm using red oak.

if finishing wood with clear varnish or poly theres no need for thompsoms a waste of product works good on unfinished decks tho

I ended up painting my bed wood because I don't want to redo it in a year. But that's just me.

Yeah waste of time. If you really want to protect it Get a big long trough.
Purchase bulk Clear Glycol. (like radiator fluid but clear) heat the glycol and submerse the wood and leave for a few days. The Glycol shoves all moisture out of the wood and replaces it with Glycol. Glycol will be permanent and will not evaporate the wood is just full of glycol. Not saying its permanant but lasts a long time.

No you have to use the clear. You use the PG as stated above. Colors are added Added colors will discolor wood. You buy from chemical suppliers. Not saying its the best way its just one way to treat wood and its better than using the store bought wood treatments.
We are neither recommending using it or selling it, its just method that works. Its how they keep the bark on trees used in displays, gifts and such

Had a customer use linseed oil, turn out super nice looking. Does not give you a glossy coat but a nice looking finish. Thats what I will use on my next one

Thats how we finished hunting rifles for a durable easily repairible finish.
Linseed oil and some shellac. More oil than shellac. Low gloss which is wanted in hunting and most scratches can be fixed easily. Lots of rubbing but does work great.

I used Thompson's once. One board grayed (is that a word) up and began to warp after a year or so. I tried polyurethane on my current truck...did not last. I recently stripped the wood and coated with teak oil...we'll see.

Bad idea.
I used it on my new pine bed about 10 years ago and hated it.

DON"T USE IT in my opinion. The wood turned dark almost black in places and then with the oil in the wood it made it hard to get anything else to stick.
