"Metal Rescue" Rust Removal on Truck U
Hey guys,
I'm sure there are some home made stuff out there for rust removal, and probably cheaper, but I saw this stuff on Truck U this morning...doesn't look as if they have it for sale just yet, but thought it was interesting....check it out! http://www.metalrescue.com/home.aspx

Re: "Metal Rescue" Rust Removal on Truck U
$25 a Gallon and they want you to "soak the part in it". LOL $90 for 5 gal
$25 a gallon it better go good with ICE and Coke-a-cola Too!!! hopefully they will send out the "sample" they offer on their contact page. I would spend the money for it if it does what claimed. no destruction of the base metal...very cool beats the he!! outta grinding/sanding. Last edited by Rooster's 67; 02-07-2010 at 05:07 PM. |

Re: "Metal Rescue" Rust Removal on Truck U
Okay....I sent them a question about painting parts after using their product....here's their response....
Thank you for your interest in Metal Rescue(tm) Rust Remover Bath. Metal Rescue(tm) is a water based rust remover, which makes it extremely easy to clean off once your part has been de-rusted. To prep your part for paint after it is de-rusted, simple wash the part with soap and water and dry your part. The part is then ready to paint. Prep your part like you would normally weather it is priming or scuffing. It is that simple! Your sample request is on its way to you. You may already know that we were featured on Speed Channel's Truck U. We are very excited about this and we wanted to let you know that we are running a Truck U show special this week for $25/gallon including shipping (up to a $16 savings)! This special will run through Sunday February 14th . To take advantage of this, purchase your Metal Rescue(tm) now and mention Truck U! Remember that Metal Rescue(tm) has a 100% money back guarantee if you are not completely satisfied. Metal Rescue(tm) is sold through the internet at www.metalrescue.com. If you would like to purchase Metal Rescue by phone, you can place your order by calling 1-800-365-1117. We have friendly and knowledgeable staff available Monday - Friday 8a-5p EST to assist you with your questions and process your order. I'll let yall know how it works when i receive my sample.....

Re: "Metal Rescue" Rust Removal on Truck U
I haven't used Metal Rescue, but i have used Evaporust which looks like essentially the same thing and it works well. It's great for getting rust off old bolts and smaller items. I soaked an old chrome bicycle wheel as a test and it didn't do anything but take the rust off. Sorry, no pics. Waaaaay better than grinding and sanding!
I picked it up from a distributor in Dallas so I didn't have to pay for shipping. It was about 7 years ago, so I don't remember who the distributor was. http://www.evaporust.com/index.html Last edited by j-dogg; 02-13-2010 at 01:31 PM. |

Re: "Metal Rescue" Rust Removal on Truck U
I use a similar product called Deox-C, it comes as a powder and you mix it with hot water and soak stuff in it. It works amazingly well and will remove all but the heaviest rust in one 24hr soak. Its non toxic and non corrosive although it stings a bit if you've got any nicks on your hands.
I did these old metal shutters that were on my house in France. They'd not seen paint for decades and all I did was make up a temporary bath in a hole dug in the earth floor of the cellar lined with some plastic sheet, mixed the stuff in a bucket of hot water and left it for 24 hrs. The results speak for themselves. All I needed to do was take them out halfway through and give them a tickle over with a wire brush and drop em back in and then hose them off They came out looking like they'd been sand-blasted, all clean and ready for paint, even in any cavities. Heres a before and after picture.
