Can you put a Aux. Input on a Factory AM/FM Radio?
Is it possible and if so, how?
I have a factory am/fm radio and want to be able to plug in my Ipod. I also want to run and amplifier and sub, how can I do that? Thanks for any and all info.

Re: Can you put a Aux. Input on a Factory AM/FM Radio?
Look for something called an RF Modulator with RCA inputs. The modulator will have ant input and output wires. Unplug your ant from your radio, plug into the input of your modulator. Plug the output into your radio. You will need an RCA to mini stereo jack. Plug the RCA end of the jack into the modulator, plug the mini stereo end into your ipod headphone jack and tune into whatever FM station your RF Modulator states and you'll be able to hear your ipod via your factory radio. Hope this helps.

Re: Can you put a Aux. Input on a Factory AM/FM Radio?
i put a 10disc cd changer with rf modulator in my 86 aries wagon. works pretty good, only i have to turn up the volume when i'm running the changer 'cause the highest volume output is too low. it did allow me to keep my stereo for that factory look that is good for dissuading car thieves!
as for your truck, perhaps if you have someone with some SERIOUS wiring knowledge and can figure out how to add a ton of circuitry. i coworker of mine had an 8 track player in his car that was non funtional and he bypassed the deck and used that circuit for the input for his ipod. |

Re: Can you put a Aux. Input on a Factory AM/FM Radio?
DZL1 hooked me up with this info....
Jerry Rudbeck specializes in our old radios. He evan puts iPod Jacks to them so you can play your iPod threw the existing radio. Not expensive either. Great guy and communication that is understandable. Al W. http://www.electrodesign.us/contactus.htm Im gonna look into this guy. Thanks fellas for all the help.

Re: Can you put a Aux. Input on a Factory AM/FM Radio?
Anyone figure out how to do this on a 67-72 am/fm? I have done this on an am and it works great, but now I have an am/fm that I want to convert.

I've been inside both radios, they don't seem very similar..
Interested though.

For those considering this.. I only use a radio for general background music, I don't ever listen loud or care about perfect sound quality(in any car). Your going to need far more than a stock converted AM to get those two things. |
