cruise control

Hi All,
I just bought a 2006 Chevy Z71 1/2 ton, And driving todat I tried to use the cruise control and nothing! Wipers work so I dont think it is in the arm. I was wondering if there was possibly a blown fuse or some easy fix????
As always Thanks for the Help, Eric

Re: cruise control

A fuse may be possible, check to see if the brake lights are staying on, this would keep it from setting. Also, check to make sure the module is plugged in under the hood and the cable is connected to the throttle body. It could still be the arm, the wires for the cruise could still be broken inside.

Re: cruise control

Don't get upset with me, but just to be sure...

You have to move the "slider" to the middle to turn the cruise "on," then you have to push in the button on the end of the stalk (you stick your finger in it) to set your speed. You can "coast" by pushing that button in, or "accelerate" by pushing the slider to the right, it will automatically return to center when you let go of it. Moving the slider to the left turns it off.

Again... not sure if you're familiar with GM's cruise control... my wife's corolla is way different than my truck. If you knew everything I posted, please don't take offense.

For troubleshooting... is the green light that says "cruise" coming on in the dash when you try to use it?

There is. When you hit the brakes, the CC "stops." Push the slider to the right and let go, it will "resume" your previous setting. You can't move it to the left, that shuts it off then you have to reset it. Try to be at about your old speed before you "resume", if not, the truck will drop to 3rd and "floor it" to catch up to your old speed.

I have thousands of highway miles on my truck from SC to NY, and I drove from SC to GA at least 1 maybe 2 weekends a month for 4 years, I'm a CC veteran
