I bought a new truck yesterday
It's a 71 long bed step side. It's going to be my parts truck at first then hopefully I'll build it later.

Re: I bought a new truck yesterday
Ok...when you say it's going to be your parts trucks...you mean it will be your work truck .... then later down the road you will fix her up?

Re: I bought a new truck yesterday
No. I'm going to use the front sheet metal to finish my 70, then later I'll do something with it.

Congrats. I am a firm believer that you can't have too many trucks (or motorcycles)!

Nice rig, a long bed step side, you don't see many of those rollin around. Good luck with the build.

Re: I bought a new truck yesterday
It'll be a while before I build this one. I want to finish my 70 short step by may and I needed some parts. I'll buy all of these trucks I can find, as long as the price is right..

Re: I bought a new truck yesterday
I try to build one at a time, but it's hard to do. Especially when I bring another one home..
I'm going to try and get the 250 in it running this weekend. The P.O. said the carb just needed some work. I don't think he'd lie to me? Do you?

Re: I bought a new truck yesterday
You know that's the second truck I've bought that had that. I guess you do what you gotta do. The truck came from a bad part of Birmingham.

Re: I bought a new truck yesterday
I'm going to hand a spare on it sunday to see how it looks. I like fleet sides on long beds myself, but the look is growing on me.

Re: I bought a new truck yesterday
I would like to find a good fleet side bed for it. I think this step side bed would be better as a trailer....

Re: I bought a new truck yesterday
Do you mean a longbed step-side trailer for your shortbed step-side truck?

Re: I bought a new truck yesterday
I'd probably use it on my 67 long bed fleetside. I think that would look cool to have a nice trailer of the same years.

Re: I bought a new truck yesterday
Back to basics!!!
spark...fuel...air check to see if the coil has power pull one plug wire and stick an old mower plug in it look down the carb and pump the linkage and see if it sprays any gas down the carb

Re: I bought a new truck yesterday
Thanks for the help but I know how to work on cars. I've been a mechanic for 12 years. I've just never worked on one of these and didn't know if there was something special about it. I think it's an electrical problem. I'll chase it down tomorrow.

Re: I bought a new truck yesterday
well those old 6's are pretty bullet proof..form the pic it looks complete so I would just shoot a hot wire to the coil it looks like the fuel filter is full so your half way there
if I had to guess the choke is fubar that air cleaner looks alittle ...ummm...modified..

Re: I bought a new truck yesterday
It's one of those special air cleaners.
All the electrical connections look like crap and the gas looks like varnish. I've been looking for an HEI to put in there. I'll probably not use the engine, but it'll be nice to know i can..
