cl find, us military markings?
What would this truck have looked like originally with the military markings?

Re: cl find, us military markings?
It just depends on exactly what role it played in the military. I have not seen a SPID with the entrys like the ad is showing. Doesn't mean it isn't true though. There was a lot of variations in the way things got done in those days. Most of the military COPs of that era I have seen had a metal ID plate riveted to the dash.

Re: cl find, us military markings?
Looks like some info may be missing on that SPID. Doesnt smell right, I really dont think the service would get one with a tilt either. Usually the military GSA's for that time period were low options, nothing fancy. Not to say they didnt come with a full SPID full of stuff, but it would be rare to see one fully loaded with all the bells and whistles....

Re: cl find, us military markings?
Were these trucks common amongst the US military? I know the 80’s k5 are everywhere. I have tried searching for old pics of the 67-72 trucks in the military with no avail.

Re: cl find, us military markings?
These were common for the military. Mine was an Air Force flight line truck. I have all the service records and the original GSA instructions.

Re: cl find, us military markings?
the spid looks right for military. There were some things military got as options that were not options to the general public- the overflow tank being one of those. Many things were labelled as options on the military vehicles that never showed up as options on civillian trucks such as the oil drain plug. The tilt has been added I am sure, as they did not show it on the SPID. If they have installed an original truck tilt, not a van tilt, could they not say factory tilt- it turns into semantics. There should be a military vin riveted to the door of the glove box I believe. It looks to be a nice truck and if it is a california truck in wisconson $17,500 I would think would be in line, due to rust issues I assume they have there.

Re: cl find, us military markings?
I've really only seen one Army truck SPID, and it was kind of an oddball. Typical SWB stepside, but had 350/TH350 (and 16" steelies). The SPID showed all kinds of weird codes and options, mostly unimportant stuff. Back in the old days, before the days of CUCV's, some things could have gotten a bit whacky or at least not 100% matching with the next truck. That truck looks nothing out of the ordinary though. In 1984 when they started doing CUCV's, everything was identical. Granted, however, the military had more than 3/4 ton K5's and 5/4 ton K30's, such as the occasional duallies and such, during GM's little fiasco with the military mid 80's, but for the most part 98% of GM trucks were Blazers or 5/4 ton K30's. Identical except for paint.
I doubt the tilt would have been in there. A V8 is pretty much the highest option to have been in an army truck. As for appearances, they would have been army green and probably plain jane other than a few small markings. I don't quite remember all about the one I've seen, other than I have the box off it still. There were no markings at all on the box. Not sure bout the rest of it though.

Re: cl find, us military markings?
i had a 69 chevy from the army, straight 6 3 on the tree stepside with indented left side rear fender for the spare tire. it was as plain as can be, army green w/ white top. regret getting rid of it back in 1986. it also came with a posi rear end, stock!!

Re: cl find, us military markings?
The '67 short step I have is ex military and is as plain jane as can be, except for shoulder belts. It's spid is long gone, but it does have the GI tag screwed to the glovebox door.
