has anyone ever done this?

i was thinking of having 4.5 inch tips out before the rear tires, but i realized that theres only like 5.5 inches of space between the ground and the bottom of the truck, so i was thinking of cutting holes in the bed side close to the bottom and run the tips out them on each side, has anyone done this? any pictures? thanks

Re: has anyone ever done this?

Sorry, I do not have a picture of exhaust coming through the body on this computer. Get to my profile page, and look in my "inspirations" album. There is a black and orange 51 chevy that the rod shop I worked in built. We ran the exhaust through the running boards. Pm me if you want a more detailed shot of that when I get home tonight.

When you do it, make sure your exhaust does not have much play in it at the tip. This will keep it from "banging" against the body everytime you get on it or hit a bump. Some guys will actually attach the tip to the body and put a flex point in the exhaust to prevent screwing things up.

Re: has anyone ever done this?

it looks ok on some trucks....bit I think after a while I would get tired of looking at it and I agree....laid out trucks only. My lays out but when it comes exhaust time it will be tucked and barely noticable...I hope.

Yeah, honestly I do. Nothing wrong with a side exit, I just don't dig the huge tips on this era of truck.
