I need to rebuild my drivers side door hinges. Can I just pull the door and do it on the truck, or is it possible to get the hinges off with out pulling the fender? Looks tight there. I'd prefer to do it on the truck, just to make rehanging the door easier.

i dont think u can get them off, but once u do its easy i just bought the kit from inpala bobs for the lower and a new upper they work great.

I just did my drivers side. I think the only thing that might stop you from doing them on the truck is the amount of force it took me to get the old pins out. I had a BFH and my vise and had to work the top pin back in and out to get it out. Good luck

Hmmm. Is your truck apart? I don't have a problem with pulling the hinges, just don't want to have to pull the fender to get them off.

Clamp the hinge in your vise and use a torch to apply heat to the hinge around the pin area, not on the pin itself. Get them good and warm and the pin comes out every time.

Hey Sin, you just cant get the answer you want about taking the fender off eh buddy. LOL
Im not sure my friend, but I use PB Blaster, it works better than WD-40 or rusted bolts. The torch will work also, just to heat things up.

Ya, I had the whole front clip off. I also don't own a torch yet so pb blaster and BFH got the job done.

You can do it with the fender on, but you can not rebuild the hinge on the truck, there is not enough room. You need to get a flex head 9/16 gear wrench and some patience to get at the bolts, but it is no big deal. Use a sharpie to mark the location of the hinges originally and after rebuilt bolt them back on. hope this helps, harold

Try an air hammer with a pointy chisel. I used a propane torch as well, but it might not be necessary. And as an update, I was able to rebuild the hinges on the truck.

I've been ok. Trying to enjoy my truck since the new engine got installed.

Thats true Sin, but someone offering me right at 7000 for my truck, I had to think about it.

X2 on the propane torch. They are handy if you ever do any plumbing around the house but they can be REAL handy in the garage for getting nuts & bolts loose. Got one that self ignites & has the button to keep it on with just a push. Push button again to turn off quick. Not too expensive either.
