I was wondering if the painted dog dish hubcaps can be stripped and then shined up or are they actually different - like the painted are just steel?

I know it's only a dumb question when you don't know the answer. I am sure they are different, but just asking.....

I think they are steel. If you can find a metal polisher in your area I'm sure they could be polished and clear coated.

Yeah, i suppose. I have been looking and it seems they are just steel whereas the others are stainless?!?!?!

They're just steel.

I don't see many trucks with the painted hubcaps, can't say the same about the shiny ones.

70c......Nice job. Those really would set off a truck. there are alot of Stainless covers on trucks.

No,
If you strip the paint off the steel caps it is a dual metal color. Stainless is polished and different. Another way to get your steel looking like stainless is too strip them and have them powder coated with the silver polished coating. I do not have an example but have seen it done and they look real close. Good Luck on your hubcap endeavor.
