11 Year old Driving

My little girl got to drive for the first time today. So I made a video of her driving around the yard in the truck. Destiny's only 11! She did real good. She got a lot of practice on the golf cart the last few years so that's helped a lot.

Re: 11 Year old Driving

Sounds like a neat Father & Daughter memory day!

Still recall being allowed to drive the first time by my dad in his "goin' fishin' car", a 59 impala with a 3 speed on the column! I was 10 years old. That old car was never quite right after that but I learned how to 'clutch'!

Now my youngest son who, at 6 years old, is asking when he can drive. Keep telling him when his feet can reach the pedals and he can see out the window at the same time!

Looks like you both had a memory-making fun day and great to see you got her started in a truck!

Re: 11 Year old Driving

last winter i got rearended and my blazer was totaled, and had to drive my 2wd chevy to go pick up my son one weekend. well we got stuck in the snow and I had him slide over to the driver seat while i went out to push. now he was 9 at the time and he did really good, but to make a long story short when i got back in the truck my son look at me and said daddy i think that was very dangerouse but i had a lot of fun doing it. and all i could do is laugh and think of all the bad stuff i did as a child and think man do i got my hands full

When does she get to do her first burnout? make sure you film that to. I was fortunate enough do my first burnout very young in my brothers 73' z28, lots of fun. I have 2 girls driving and a son only 2yrs away and I'm lucky to have hair left.

Re: 11 Year old Driving

Thats cool.

When I was about the same age my dad always took me fishing to a lake where he owned a little bit of lakeshore. He would back the trailer down the ramp (public ramp) and stop at waters edge so he could get in the boat. He would give me the high sign and I would back him the rest of the way into the water , the boat slid off the trailer, I would pull the trailer out of the water and drive 3 miles on gravel roads to our lakeshore lot and meet him there. If we did that today they'd throw him in jail here

Re: 11 Year old Driving

A memory that will last a lifetime! The first time I drove was on Grandpa's lap out at the farm in the fields. I was maybe 4 or 5 years old. When I turned 10, he let me take the truck out all by myself. When I turned 14, I bought that old 1980 GMC from him and it became a huge part of my life until I turned 22 and had to part it out for tuition money

I'll never forget driving with Grandpa though, such a good memory!

thats real cool that you started her out like this.keep it up.i never knew either of my grandfathers as a kid they both died before i was born and my dad from when i was born until i was 16 always worked on the road alot at construction hotplant operator/mechanic jobs so alot of these memories people have with there fathers/grandfathers i dont since my dad worked 5 sometimes 6 days a week so he wasnt around alot especially when i was really young he would let me occasionally drive but mostly he was busy doing his stuff around the house in the short amount of time he had at home.i have kids and a life of my own now and i only hope when my 4 get around this age that i can do things that lead to memories like this.
