Side Rails and Side Bars
hi everyone, i recently purchased an 86 C10 short box off craigslist. it's my new daily driver. I sure am glad to have found this place. I got a game plan now for the dim gauges and have been reading and liking what i'm reading about the 5.3L swap.
Now for my question, can someone point me in the right direction here, i am looking for bed side rails and side steps. i went to the local truck accessory place and they not only didn't carry anything for my old truck but told me i would have a hard time finding side steps because of the saddle bag gas tanks. i looked online...sure enough hard time finding these. LMC doesn't seem to carry many options in this area. Thanks for reading. |

Re: Side Rails and Side Bars
I believe you can get the side rails at a kragen or O'reilleys.
Most 4x4 shops would carry nerf bars. Here is one example: http://www.4wheelparts.com/Running-B...s=75&t_pt=3184 greg

Re: Side Rails and Side Bars
yep those things. i like the look of these Putco ones:
here they are in black: These are cool but not my thing: I'd really like to get some like this: even the manufacturer website for these styles didn't sseem to have them available for our trucks. sigh. Last edited by zeddsdead; 03-10-2010 at 02:22 AM. |

Re: Side Rails and Side Bars
what ive seen done is people are able to modify the ones on the Ford Chassis on the F series bronco and pickup ( i had em on the 89 i had) and they are a step that bolts to the chassis and they work on our trucks.. they are diamond plate about four inches by a foot wide for the steps or you can put the one piece diamond plate running boards on there.. the only other suggestion is to see if you can modify the Ford bars on the bronco 2 to fit

Re: Side Rails and Side Bars
I never did find nurf bar steps that would work on my 78 with dual saddle tanks. I ended up buying universal ones and made my own mounting brackets. They are sturdy enough, and don't look bad but ended up an inch or so lower than I would have preferred. Did this thread showing how I did it. http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=606290
Sorry, just noticed this is an old thread and new post had nothing to do with the step bars.
