Re: 3/4 ton ?
Hey. GMC'S came standard with leaf's. But could be ordered with coils.
Chevy's came standard with coils, but could also be ordered with leaf's.

Re: 3/4 ton ?
Then there's the single leaf overload spring to go with the coils....

Re: 3/4 ton ?
no, they are not rare, but interesting. personally, i like the cleaner look of just the springs.
my dad put 3/4 ton (2000 lb rated - per side) coils on the back of his 72 burb 1/2 ton 25 years ago to replace the worn out base springs. turns out they were optional. his truck also had the shorty leaf aux springs and they never engaged after the coil swap, even with our heavy trailer hitched up. my 72 burb is a 3/4 ton and already has the beefier rear springs but without the aux leaf setup. i plan to swap in the 3/4T HD coils (2700 lb rated) for the "camper special" feel......eventually. only reason you'd need the overload springs with the SHD coils is if you have a king sized pickup camper or one of those triple slide out 40 foot fifth wheel trailers. |

Re: 3/4 ton ?
I doubt you'd ever get down onto the overload leaves while towing. I do make use of them when hauling gravel or firewood.
