Re: am i crazy to ask for 4k

I would give it another month or too, but if no one bites I dont think your going to get 4K for it up there. Looks well worth it. But gas is starting to rise and most people dont want trucks that get 10-12 MPG's at the moment. I usually have luck pricing the ones I sell in the mid to upper 3's. I usually dont make alot off the selling due to what I put into any of my trucks, but atleast I break a little profit.

Most people have already got the taxes back and youd think that you would have already gotten some bites already.

Nice looking truck though.....

Keep advertising, someone will bite.....

Re: am i crazy to ask for 4k

did you put it on Craigslist? I just sold my RV on there... post it on a few local cities (have to use multiple emails) and make them call your phone, helps to ward off some of the scammers.

It's because your air cleaner isn't turned around right.

Just kidding. I do think it's mainly because of the times we are in right now. Not many people are buying extra vehicles, and like stated above the poor gas mileage is narrowing your buyers. Just give it some time, and don't get in too big of a rush, and lower it down too far that you kick yourself. The right buyer will come along.

Re: am i crazy to ask for 4k

I don't think you are crazy to ask it. Seems like it might be a decent starting point for negotiation if someone really wants the truck. I also don't think it's a good deal, at least not in my area.

looks like a nice truck, if it's rust free $4k isn't a bad starting point. As others have said it's a tough market out there right now so it might be awhile...

Re: am i crazy to ask for 4k

as said its the economy.. just keep reposting it under different titles. me personally i would pull the rack off for the photo and then say under your craigslist post you have a rack for it.

theres a a hole for every seat someone will buy it for 4k
but if you want 4k ask for 4800 obo

Re: am i crazy to ask for 4k

My gut feeling is that most people do not have 4K to just throw around.

If you could offer financing, it would already be sold.

i think you're crazy NOT to ask at least 4K.

Who in their right mind would finance a private sale?

To the OP... if you were west of the mountains... it would prolly sell for that easy. You live in a fairly remote area... not may people are gonna want to drive over an hour or more to kick tires anymore. So your craigslist ads are basically being seen by locals in your area.

I also agree on gettin' different pics up. A muddy lookin' driveway, and hoses and stuff detract from the truck. There are some very neat areas in Winthrop... take the truck somewhere around there and take some good pics.

I live on Whidbey Island and go through the same thing. It's a 45 minute drive out to Interstate 5. Not many people want to come to the island to look at stuff.

Re: am i crazy to ask for 4k

A lot has been said that makes sense. If you want 4k you need to ask more than 4k. Everyone wants to be able to think they made a bargain. If you want say 3.5k min I would put the price at 3800-3900 to get away from the 4 number.

The rack and the pic with the hose do need to go. People looking at this truck will imo either not care about the rack or won't want it all. It isn't a selling point for anyone. Also, I thought the same thing as another poster mentioned when I saw the wet pic with hose. Cheap paint. I wouldn't use any pic of it wet at all.

I noticed in your add you mentioned it didn't have rust in the rockers/corners. I would expand on that in my ad. If the truck is almost rust free mention that instead of simply mentioning the places it does't have rust. I know personally I see no rust in rockers and cab corners then think "nice, but what about the floor and bottom of the fenders?"

Re: am i crazy to ask for 4k

Just my perspective but I think it's a nice truck but way up in the far corner of the country makes it hard. I'd like to make an offer on a truck as clean as yours, the issue is I then need to factor in $1300 or $1400 to ship it to the east coast so at $4K I'm looking at $5300 or $5400 to put it in my driveway.

Good luck with it.

Re: am i crazy to ask for 4k

Are the grill and the front bumper bent? Looking down the side the box looks a little off. I'm not picking apart your truck just looking at it from the perspective of a buyer...how much is that stuff going to cost me to fix?

I think that's more than a fair price. I don't have anything to add that other posters have not already.

If I had 4k I would be looking at your truck.

Re: am i crazy to ask for 4k

Judging from the exterior of the truck, I was expecting to see an engine compartment that was a "survivor". If you spent some time replacing the valve covers and air cleaner with stock items, I bet you could get more the $4K for it. Spend some time cleaning up the engine compartment, and you're good to go.

If you were closer, I'd buy it and make a few bucks.

Re: am i crazy to ask for 4k

My major turn offs are the bends in the grille & bumper. Not to nit pic but I wouldn't post a picture with things on the floor, dirt on the carpet or a crooked air cleaner. I'm picky that way. The valve cover bolts catch my eye too. I like them straight in line. It's mostly about detail. Be sure to note any damage visual in your ad. Not mentioning it could deter an interested party. Please don't take it bad. Just trying to be constructive.

Re: am i crazy to ask for 4k

There's so many of these trucks around Spokane. It drives my wife nuts with me pointing all of them out. I think there's just so many of them up here, no one wants to spend that much on one. There's several around here that I could grab for around 1500... granted, they're a lot more rusty...
