700r4 lock up
I was wondering my truck has a 700r4 but the lock up kicks in at about 40mph. With the stall on my converter the motor is at a total bog, i dont have the vacuum line hooked up to the switch, would that help? I was wondering if disconnecting the harness off the tranny would de-activate the lock up on the tranny. Please give me some advise so i can make it work right or just disconnect it all together.

Re: 700r4 lock up
Can't tell you about the vacuum switch, but yes, if you disconnect the wire for the lock up it will not lock up in 4th. Better yet put a on/off switch in line and you have manual control. I agree its a pain at lower speeds but for crusin the highway its great.

Re: 700r4 lock up
The transmission will lockup in 4th gear with the plug unplugged.

Re: 700r4 lock up
i think that i will hook up the vacuum line and see how it acts. I would think that if it works i would be super glad, its driving me nuts and i always have to just put the truck in 3rd.

Re: 700r4 lock up
The tranny will go to fourth, but the converter will not lockup.
