Anyone remember this?

This is on a 77 k5 I got a year or so back. Since then I have acquired my '74 Jimmy and have passed on the 77 to a good friend of mine and it is at his house. He knows he doesn't want the grill guard/stock bumper and we will building custom ones. As for now, thats pretty far down the list. What I am thinking is taking this one and taking it down to bare metal and updating it. Any suggestions? I know it's not really functional as a true grill guard but thought I would have some fun with it. What do you think? Leave it stock and rechrome or customize it? Thanks guys!
