700 auto transmission from 1990/91 for C10 69
I´ve a C10 69 with 350 engine and 4 speed compound manual transmission, and I want to start to collect all the parts in order to make the conversion to automatic.
I found at the junkyard a 700 transmmission in a Camaro 90 or 91. Can I use that transmission? or can you suggest other years. thanks. |

Yea you can use it. I would get a 700r4 crossmember from Early Classic or CPP.

Re: 700 auto transmission from 1990/91 for C10 69
I put a 700R4 in my 68 by just moving the existing crossmember back and drilling new holes in the frame. If you are going to leave the existing steering column in place, you can use a floor shifter. If you want a column shift, you will have to change the steering column and find the correct bracket to connect the linkage from the frame to the transmission. I got mine from a late model van with a 700R4. It would be easiest to use a floor shifter as the transmission already has the brackets for the shift cable and you could keep your column.

Re: 700 auto transmission from 1990/91 for C10 69
I put a 700R4 in my 68'.
Sourced the cross-member from Bow Tie Overdrives The floor shifter from Lokar (shifter DIDN'T require cutting a new hole in the floor board, althought it attached to the top of the transmission and is operated by a linkage rather than a cable). The shifter handle is pretty tall . . . 20 or 23 inches I think with two bends . . . knob ends up in front of the radio at about the same level. Need to change the driveshaft length, and get a different front slip yoke. Pending carb, you may need a throttle valve cable bracket. |

I have one out of an 88 pickup that has a cable driven speedo, I'm thinking 88-ish is around the time they went to an electronic speedo though.
