The last of my "new trucks"

I picked up the last of my four purchased a few weeks ago.
The best thing to me was the snow chains on the front tires.

Also the rear wagons are 16.5 inch with about a 10-12 inch wide rim

enjoy. It may be going to the crusher. Steel at 8 per 100 right now. Of course I'll strip the good stuff.

PS: this is not an advertisement or solicitation, Just for the curious to gawk at, then point and laugh.

Re: The last of my "new trucks"

That's funny, you said point and laugh, because your scrap may be comparable to my treasure. Though my chassis was cleaned up and painted before I bought it, as far as body, yours just has a little sun burn. It's amazing to see that depending on what part of the country your from, how things age, and what it's worth to someone. Boy, I wish I could get down south or out west with some cash and a trailer.(I'm sure the wife is glad I can't)

Re: The last of my "new trucks"

my scrap decision is based on two things. Overall condition of truck and sheer number of projects. I purchased this and three others to get the one truck I wanted. I have 5 times more project trucks than I could ever finish and I just cant keep them all. So somthing has to go. This one is currently loaded on the trailer so its under consideration.

I will most likely not scrap it though as I have several others that are worse. Its just that no body panel is ,in my mind, useable on this truck. Rust, Dents, and bondo are everywere. The the worst part about it was that the useable although driver quality tailgate was damaged during the load. Front end loader put two gashes in it.

The truely best part I got with this truck was two new repop rocker panels (outer) he never put on . Oh and the snow chains. Those i keep no matter what. Oh and the 16.5 inch monster wagon wheels.

Wow, scrap is $11.50/100 over here.

I'd keep the auto column and stuff also if you scrap it.

DANG! Too far of a drive for me.

I had to call around to get 8. Others in area are offering from 6 to 6.5 per 100.

picking up that 67 gmc just moved this truck to the top of my "dont need" stack.

If it gets scrapped the auto column, the trim, radiator, and anything I can use will come off. the engine is a V8 but it's supposed to be the base 307. Transmission is auto so i assume a 350 so there is the auto cross emember and stuff. many good parts for a manuel to auto conversion..

Re: The last of my "new trucks"

I'd always try to sale a pickup 1st before I scraped it... Another pickup saved the better even if you take a slight loss over scap price, I just hate seeing our trucks goin to the scrapper

I totally understand and having tried to sell a few that are in similar condition, I'm not getting too many calls on non running dented rusty project trucks.

Curently on CL there is a guy here trying to sell a similar truck he's dropped it down to $500 and who knows what he will have to take to get rid of it.

Re: The last of my "new trucks"

Well, the truck will be saved from the depths of Hell called the scrap yard. At least for now.

I'll take it to the farm and make a final decision in teh near future.

The rising price of steel is part of my hesitation. BadSam in TN said its 10/100 there. I called a few of the scrap places around today and got the same 8 and 6.5/100 quote. However two of them told me it was going up this next week.

Out at the farm I have three cabs, two with partial frames under them. One 3/4 ton bed cab and frame. Two or three wasted engines so if pirce is going up I will wait. Most have been picked over very well.

The other part of my hesitation is that I want to see if it runs. If it runs I'll fix the brakes and slap 1200 on it on CL.
