Anybody else buy nuts & bolts at Tractor Supply?
I just started getting them there a couple months ago.
Just wondering if anybody has compared prices with other places. I really like they way they price them. The first time there, I counted them all, wrote down the UPC code and then at the register I found out they just weigh them and charge so much based on which grade they are. Guess you'd have to buy 50 of one size to compare cost to a box somewhere else. But, I really like the price by weight thing.

Re: Anybody else buy nuts & bolts at Tractor Supply?
Thats a neat way of doing it. I get a little frustrated when I have to write numbers on a tiny bag. Usually there is no pen at the end of the chain and if there is it's too far away to remember the SKU#

Sometimes several times a week. Grab a bag and scoop in handfulls of grade 8 stuff without worry about segregating different sizes. Can't beat em.

All but one time when I went to the local Napa, they just looked at the nuts and bolts and said just take them. They don't want to look up the prices.

Re: Anybody else buy nuts & bolts at Tractor Supply?
If you have one close, try pricing bolts at your "FASTENAL" outlet. They are usually cheaper in my area.
I keep a large supply of bolts, nuts, and washers on hand. You always need them when everything is closed.

Re: Anybody else buy nuts & bolts at Tractor Supply?
Even tho TS is on the far end of town, I prefer to shop there. Drive right past SLowe'S to get to it. And when I do buy from Lowes I just get the fasteners and let the checkout people look it up, I ain't doing their job for 'em. I buy a good bit of stuff at my local hardware too, if they have what I need. I like to keep my money in the local economy if I can.

Re: Anybody else buy nuts & bolts at Tractor Supply?
Just a guess; no. That's a pretty specialized item. Any of the vendors have the complete bolt/nut/washers kit for about 20 bucks in plain steel.

Re: Anybody else buy nuts & bolts at Tractor Supply?
Old thread, but Napa by me charges by the pound...and they estimate the weight. I always get grade 8 bolts @ 5.99/lb. I can get a big handfull of bolts for 1lb

Re: Anybody else buy nuts & bolts at Tractor Supply?
I don't know how accurate they are at guessing the weight at Napa, but Tractor Supply is 3.99 a pound so it might be cheaper.

Re: Anybody else buy nuts & bolts at Tractor Supply?
I love the "bu the pound" way to buy at Tractor Supply and have gone there for years. It makes it easy to just get a bag of a particular size every time you`re in there and keep your bins fun.I figure I add about 5 bucks to my purchase and always have a good supply. There`s an independent auto parts supply in the next bigger town that was great for what the Tractor Supply didn`t carry.Things like grade 8 nyloc nuts and sizes Tractor Supply doesn`t bother with. But,they hooked up with Bumper To Bumper and are about 1/2 worthless franchise as such things always seem to go.My local Ace was good for stainless until they decided to streamline the inventory. Now it`s hit or miss.Every time I go to Fastenal they either skip over the size I need or have to order it.I don`t mess with them any more.In the same industrial park is a place called British Metric. You just go into the warehouse and they hook you u with all sorts of special fasteners. They`ll make it if they can`t get it.There`s crates and crates of hardware and they always hook mt up.It`s a place where cost doesn`t matter because you`re just glad to get exactly what you need. When it comes to putting together rears and other presicion work where only just the right bolt with the correct collar, shank, and head size will do,they are my go-to shop.

Re: Anybody else buy nuts & bolts at Tractor Supply?
I have bought fasteners from time to time at TSC in Cape Gireadeau.
Mostly I buy fasteners at another place closer to me to the south, AgMart. It is family owned and the only one I know of, it is a farm type store. Danny
