Power steering conversion???
Hey all!!
I just got into these trucks again! I had a SWB 69 about 15 years ago, but sold it. Driving around, I found a super sweet, straight 69 C10 Shortbed stepside. This truck has the straight 6 with a 3 on the tree. Someone put a little bitty GT steering wheel on it. There is no power steering!! Let's just say that my arms are getting bigger from turning this thing!! Does anyone know if you can convert these to power steering using newer Chevy stuff? Any tips would be greatly appreciated! |

Re: Power steering conversion???
Sure, use a power box from any truck up through 87. It bolts straight on. Use the pitman arm for the power box too as well as the steering coupler rag joint. You existing column will bolt right to the box and the box will bolt to the frame.
Then you will need to find power steering pump, brackets, pulley, belt and hoses.
