Project "Message Board"
This is my '68 short fleet that I purchased from board member billsbowtie.
I am going to incorporate ideas, how to's, and parts primarily from board members, and their suggestions. This will not be a frame off resto, just a mild upgrade from a previous build. Also, it may be slow at times with money being tight due to unemployment. Starting with: Rebuilt 350 Rebuilt TH400 New drum brakes all around New starter New alternator HEI Headers with full length exhaust To do: Resolve brake issue - DONE Shorten steering column - DONE Go through the steering and suspension - DONE Replace old heated springs with new 2/4 drop springs - DONE Replace shocks New Radio - DONE Custom kick panels - DONE Custom door panels - DONE Reupholster seat Fix speedometer - DONE Fix turn signals - DONE Add gauges - DONE Bodywork - DONE Paint - Victory Red - Changed to Viper Red - DONE Spray bedliner - Done Add A/C I will be doing all of the work myself.

Re: Project "Message Board"
Next item was steering column. Following the excellent writeup in the FAQ section, http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=191143, this was easy.

Re: Project "Message Board"
The steering and suspension are in very good condition, no issues with tierod ends, ball joints, or bushings. I did replace the old heated springs with 2/4 drop springs from GMCPAULS. http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=191225

Made door panels with custom speaker pods to hold 6 x 9 three ways without cutting the bottom of the doors.

Re: Project "Message Board"
thanks for the complements. I had an issue with a neighbor who called the city, complaining about me working on the truck in the driveway. I talked to the ordinance officer and got a 2 week reprieve as long I did as much of the work as possible in the garage, so I had to work quickly.

Re: Project "Message Board"
Awesome door panels...that is how you do it..yourself and the way you want it...And the 72 armrests..Thats 100% old school right there..
And thats not fair someone complained you working on your truck..Sounds just like Delaware...if you were caught changing your oil in the driveway..$75 fine.. I had a 69 C/10,lost a rear u-joint on the way home from work, limped home 30miles and put truck up on jackstands..took out driveshaft, went to parts store, come home and there was a tow truck sitting there..I told him to go, i am fixing it right now so i can go to work at 5am....Man some people just dont get it , do they? Looking good... Last edited by 70BLAZERX2; 07-21-2010 at 08:56 PM. |
